In August 2015, I designed and co-taught “Coding in the Natural Sciences” in Merida, Yucatan, with Clubes de Ciencia – science clubs that expose high school and undergraduate students to scientific research. In my course, I taught students the basics of R programming through examples in ornithology and evolutionary biology.

I continued my involvement in the Burke’s summer camps and helped teach the “DNA Day”. We are in the process of expanding the Burke’s education program to include a year-long program for high school girls. In March, I participated for the first time in Seattle Expanding Your Horizons, a one-day career exploration workshop for middle-school girls.
